I should probably get a little bit more actual work done today, as I’m off Monday due to Graduation Boy. So I might do this one and maybe one more and that might be it for today. I expect I would be done with the 2As by the end of next week and then can turn to 1A. Ed White didn’t have a lot of major discrepancies, but all of the starters that competed at district had little ones, which makes me wonder if I missed a set of duals somewhere along the line.
Month: May 2014
Ridgeview — The Season, 2013-14
Some oddities with the Clay County Panthers. Most of the discrepancies were somewhat small, but some were a little larger and I still adjusted. However, where there was a really big adjustment (Epstein, Taylor, Smith & Horner, most specificly) I went with what I had and not with what was reported. Ridgeview was a team where (I don’t think) I was missing any results. Coach Nolda was pretty good about that this season.
Disney Duals Team Needs
Monsta Wrestling based in Lake City is needing six wrestlers (mostly upper weights) to compete in the Disney Duals at the end of next month. Monsta Red requires wrestlers at 187 and 200 pounds, while Monsta Black needs grapplers at 175, 187, 200 and 225. Email club director Kevin Warner at monstawrestling@yahoo.com for more information. Or contact me via Twitter or email and if I can verify you as a @NEFloridaMatmen competitor, I will pass along his cell info. There’s spam lurkers out there!
I also know of a 143 who is looking for a team. Hit me up via Twitter or email if you have need. I think you’d want this kid on your team. I’d want him on mine.
Oakleaf — The Season, 2013-14
Oakleaf was an interesting one to follow. I had everything on them except for their very last event, the Seabreeze Invitational, held on the final Saturday of the regular season. That caused an understandable gap for most of their starters who competed at districts (though not for Hauser, whose record I had on the nose). All others had some adjustments, and like Middleburg, since there was a gap I couldn’t calculate, I adjusted to reflect what was reported to FHSAA. This was just one where we couldn’t get results or brackets (am not sure whether the Seabreeze event was IBT or dual).
New Page Added
I’ve added a page to the History page for 2013-14 called 13-14 Season Records. All of the 3A records that I posted on Wednesday, are now also archived there. Whatever 2A ones I am able to complete yet today, as well as Columbia, Orange Park and Middleburg, will be archived there the next day, and so on. Just count on your team’s records being archived there 24 hours after I’ve posted about them on the main page.
Middleburg — The Season, 2013-14
Phrase “as far as I know” couldn’t apply more. Just couldn’t get off the ground with getting results this year, which kept kids like Rossetti and Neubeck and Shoen from rankings consideration, plus Davie and Sawdo would have been in the mix, and the team itself performed like a top-10 at several points during the year. The missing items have been well-documented — no Palm Coast or St. Cloud dual results were ever sent to me. That means there’s a huge gap in the W/L records. And yet, FHSAA did get season records for all of the district competitors. Questions that don’t have answers. Hopefully this isn’t the case in 2014-15. No adjustments were required, as I pretty much took what was reported verbatim.
Orange Park — The Season, 2013-14
Just a few minor changes with the Raiders. I worked pretty hard to get all of the results, and the OPHS coaching staff also did a good job in making sure I had everything. OP reported 2 extra losses for Rice, I had 2 extra wins for Germain, OP had 1 extra win for Tsai, I had 1 extra win for Phillips, I think I mis-reported 1 loss that was a win for Taylor, I had 1 extra loss for Lasater. Not too bad.
Columbia — The Season, 2013-14
I thought I would start 2A with the Tigers because it would be the easiest to update, since they were in a district by themselves in 2013-14 (Note: this will not be the case next year, when Gainesville joins Columbia as a local team). I also thought I was pretty sure about the record-keeping but there were some minor discrepancies (1 more loss for Horton, five more matches for J. Lynch, two more wins for B. Wine, two more wins for Warner, 1 more loss for the regularly-starting Regar, 2 more wins from Maguire, 3 more for Rodgers, 3 more for Nash, 1 more for Thompson). I adjusted all in accordance with what was reported to FHSAA. Not sure how many 2As I will be able to complete today.
Mandarin — The Season, 2013-14
Probably the messiest of the six local 3As in 2013-14 wound up being Mandarin, and it wasn’t entirely the Mustangs’ fault. Apparently, there was a dual scheduled on the fly somewhat late in the year between the Mustangs and Sandalwood, and Stanton came over too. There was a holdup on the official for the dual and to make a long story short, I could not ever obtain the results of the Mandarin-Stanton dual that I was told did happen by both sides. So that’s why there’s a random “Stanton” put in most of the starters’ records. That will be the case for Stanton when I get to that class…later. And it’s also why most of the starters’ records seem to sort of stop just before the second round of Army Duals, because the Mandarin/Sandalwood/Stanton double dual was held just before that event (it should be noted that Sandalwood and Stanton did not wind up wrestling, I believe).
Sandalwood — The Season, 2013-14
Sandalwood presents a different picture than did any of the four previous 2013-14 @NEFloridaMatmen local teams (keep in mind, for 2014-15, the entirety of 3A-District 1 is local for me). Saints were the only team that didn’t report overall season records to Trackwrestling for the district meet, which is neither here nor there except for the fact that I have no adjustments to make. I am pretty confident that I have records that are close to accurate. We had to figure out a couple of things during the year because the Saints went to some different tournaments that nobody else saw. That is a good thing, to get out and see some new teams. Hopefully more follow that example next season.
