#TheCalendar2018-19: Sandalwood #17 IN

We received our 17th set of dates late morning today, and with a quiet afternoon in the office thus far and what appears to be a full night and, now, a fuller start to my Saturday, I thought I had better knock these out today.

Sandalwood’s season opens with an IBT, the two-day Arlington Optimist Invitational hosted by Terry Parker on December 7-8. The Saints will have their first duals competition on the second Saturday of the season, making a road trip to the outer Orlando area, St. Cloud in particular, for the Bulldog Brawl on the 15th. Sandalwood will stay in duals format for its third weekend, competing in the Bobcat Holiday Duals, a two-day event hosted by Buchholz on the 21st and 22nd.

January begins with the Saints heading back to Orlando, this time to get some 3A-Region 1 preview work done at Lake Mary’s two-day IBT, the Tournament of Champions, on the 4th and 5th. That will be the Saints’ only trip out of the city in the month. Next up will be Terry Parker’s Army Duals on the 11th and 12th, followed by Sandalwood’s recently-perennial hosting of the Gateway Conference two-day IBT on the 18th and 19th. The month will wrap up with the Saints’ traveling over to the Westside and Bishop Snyder’s one-day North Florida Duals tournament on the 26th.

Sandalwood is hoping to have two IBTs to close out the regular season. First up will be the Flagler Rotary in Palm Coast on the 1st and 2nd. The Saints are hoping to start up a new IBT, the Bell-Raulerson Invitational, on the 8th and 9th, but would need more participation for that to happen. We have a flyer for that tournament on the master schedule page for that particular weekend.

So that’s 17 schedules. Which one will be 18? YOUR team??

Ridgewood: Seventh 1A-District 6 Season Records Posted

Ridgewood did not have a lot on its schedule last year.

I saw a single dual against Hudson (results we didn’t have), the Fivay Duals (we had two of what probably would have been five duals), and an SAC Tournament listing that brackets/round robin results aren’t published anywhere.

What we saw, we’ve posted, and obviously it didn’t take too long.

Next up will be Weeki Wachee and that will close out 1A-District 6. We’ll probably start 1A-District 7 on Sunday, I would guess. The work continues.

Nature Coast: 6th 1A-District 6 Season Records Posted

The results that we got for Nature Coast were sort of similar to the ones that we saw from the Orlando-area 3A-Region 1 teams.

From an IBT standpoint, we had a lot. All of their IBTs were in hand, regular and post-season. That meant that a lot of the kids that tended to start a lot in those IBTs, we have most of their stuff.

Duals, on the other hand, were another matter. We had just one dual result with full match-by-match results, one other one with a team score, and two (again, 1A-Region 2) where we knew how they did based on their advancement.

Next up will be Ridgewood out of 1A-District 6. The work continues.

Hudson: Fifth 1A-District 6 Season Records Posted

After a fair amount of results were found for Gulf and for Hernando, we kind of crashed back to earth a bit with Hudson. Granted, the Cobras didn’t wrestle nearly as much schedule as those teams did.

But after having three Weeki Wachee duals in full, out of seven, we only had team scores from Hudson’s one-day appearance at River Ridge’s duals event, no results from the “Mustang Duals” (not even sure where that was contested), and six single duals that went missing, plus a single tournament.

We did have one IBT result, as Hudson was at the Hernando Kiwanis. But other than post-season, that was it for the IBT/roundrobin side.

Next up will be Nature Coast. They used to follow us very closely a couple of coaches ago. Perhaps they will again. The work continues.

#TheCalendar2018-19: Marianna #16 IN

We have our 16th set of dates as of earlier this morning. We are running ahead of last year, pretty solidly, but not quite where we were two years ago. Pretty solid start, altogether.

Most of Marianna’s settled dates (they have a few open ones toward the end of their calendar) are already on the master schedule. One we didn’t have was their first one, an appearance at Florida High’s Cam Brown Seminole Classic, a two-day roundrobin event, on December 7-8. The Bulldogs will return to Tallahassee for the second weekend of the season, this time in full IBT form for Chiles’ Capital City Classic, and then will engage in their first duals of the season in the third full weekend of the month, competing in Ft Walton Beach’s Beast of the Beach two-day tournament on December 21-22.

The Bulldogs will return to competition in January with another duals appearance, this time at North Bay Haven’s two-day Bash event, this year to be hosted at Bay HS. There will be FHSAA team dual competition in play for the second week of the month, still to be determined, and the possibility of region-level competition in the third week of January. Already set for the regular season is an appearance at district rival Wewahitchka’s Gator Brawl on January 18-19. The fourth weekend of the month is, at the moment, open.

Marianna’s only scheduled regular-season event in February is Wakulla’s one-day IBT on the 2nd. The Bulldogs have open weekends for both the 8th and 9th and the 15th and 16th.

So that is 16 schedules in the hopper. Pretty sweet, indeed. Which one will be 17? YOUR SCHOOL??

Hernando: Fourth 1A-District 6 Season Records Posted

Really sleepy this morning, y’all. Two hours of sleep the night before. Ears ringing bringing a bit of nausea to the table. Good times. Side note: Anybody who knows what a Medallion Signature Guarantee is, or can tell me where I can get one, I’d be obliged.

We found a lot of results for Hernando. We were missing quite a few duals, to be sure, but we had all but one of their tournament results and that was a big difference. We did have four full dual results, team scores on two others, known outcomes on two more (1A-Region 2’s quarters and semis, where we knew they got out to Osceola for the first day of FHSAA duals there).

Next up will be Hudson, after a 2018-19 schedule add-on. The work continues.

Gulf: Third 1A-District 6 Season Records Posted

Gulf had a lot of matches during the course of the year, many more than did Anclote or Central.

And we had a lot more as a result. We had their results from Keystone, because that event was over here. We had their results from Ippolito. And we had three of their full duals. So we had a pretty substantial amount.

But we were missing a lot. We had team scores only from the Southside Duals. We had team scores only from Gulf’s own holiday duals. We had short-handed results from Pasco and Fivay. And then we were missing a few other duals as well.

Next up will be Hernando. The work continues.

Central: 2nd Set of 1A-District 6 Season Records Posted

We finished off our second set of 1A-District 6 records with Central’s, of Brooksville.

Central was in two regular-season IBTs and we had results on both of those. We were missing a lot of its duals, however, with just two out of 20+. We had team scores only for its duals at Citrus’ Hurricane Cup and were missing results from Weeki Wachee, 1A-District 6 FHSAA district duals, and five other single duals.

We will continue with 1A-District 6 with Gulf up next. The work continues.

Anclote: 1st 1A-District 6 Season Records Posted

So we have our first team up for 1A-District 6, mostly because Anclote didn’t compete in a lot of events and what they did compete in, we didn’t have much on them. Hopefully that is not the case for the rest of the district.

We had just one dual for them all year — contested against Pasco at the Fivay Duals on January 20. We had two of the three tournaments listed on their schedule (Track had them at the Private School Challenge on the first weekend of February; that tournament was the same weekend as the Fivay Duals and Anclote was instead at the Logan Kushner Memorial, hosted by Palm Harbor University, on the first weekend of February). And further hampering full results, but making completion quicker, was the fact that they finished the year with just four kids on varsity.

Next up in 1A-District 6 will be Central HS in Brooksville. The work continues.

Leesburg: 1A-District 5 Season Records Posted

We wrapped up 1A-District 5 with Leesburg’s records. The second-year program competed mostly in duals, a good chunk of which we did not have. We actually did have nine of its duals because Leesburg competed in the Category V Duals at Gainesville, plus one dual at South Lake in early December and two duals at Interlachen on early February.

We were missing match-by-match results for its duals at the Hornet Duals in Haines City on January 20, plus full results from the Belleview Diamondback Duals, Talbott Legion Duals, and a couple of single duals here and there. We were also missing brackets from the Villages’ holiday tournament. I honestly don’t know if that was IBT or a duals tournament. If it was IBT, it would have been Leesburg’s only IBT in the regular season.o

We will start up District 1A-6 on Monday. The work continues.
