KISSIMMEE — In a field loaded with powerhouse talent, Fleming Island is in the top half of the Knockout Christmas Classic, hosted by Osceola Friday and Saturday.
The Golden Eagles are 19th after the first day of competition in the 39-team IBT, with 48 points. Camden County leads the field with 102.5 points, while Cleveland TN is second at 90 and Riverdale the top Florida team third at 84.5.
Fletcher is 34th (25 points) and Florida High 38th (10.5).
Still alive in the championship side from north Florida are Fleming Island’s Briar Jackson (120) and Tanner Hill (160) along with Fletcher’s Stanley Hollenbach (285), along with former Yulee & Clay standout Stevie Chopek (120), now at Countryside.
Deep South Bayou Duals: At Gonzales, LA, Wakulla and Arnold could meet in Saturday’s championship quarterfinals of the two-day dual tournament if both win their opening round duals.
Wakulla was 4-1 after the first day of competition in Pool A, with a loss only to long-time Georgia powerhouse program Jefferson. Arnold was 2-3 in Pool B.
Fight at the Fort: At Spanish Fort, ALA, Gulf Breeze is in second place after the first day of the two-day roundrobin tournament. McAdory AL leads the field with 122 points, with the 2A Dolphins in second with 98, four points ahead of third-place Weaver.
