#NextLevel 19-20 Schedule Is Up

So it did not take us as long as I feared to get the 2019-20 #NextLevel schedule on a page.

We have a good long list posted, with 34 colleges and universities represented, from JUCO to NCAA Division I, on our schedule this year.

It’s on a drop-down underneath the 19-20 Dates page.

We have not posted NCWA schedules yet. The NCWA.net site does not have rosters as of right now. We’ll be watching for FAMU, UCF (and possibly UNF?) kids at the bigger open tournaments in the south.

We could start seeing posts as soon as Friday night, energy level permitting.

Enjoy!

Find us on Facebook at North Florida Matmen or on Twitter at @NorthFLAMatmen. We want your schedules for the 2019-20 season. Head coaches SHOULD email them to our work email.

We’ve got 42 South Georgia schedules! #ThePreview comes out FRIDAY at 6AM ET! Check it out on our affiliated site at http://sgamatmen.wordpress.com

#Schedules19-20: Atlantic Coast Is In, 28 TO GO

We are up to our 58th schedule thus far.

Our third schedule of the day is from Atlantic Coast, which is staying in the revamped 3A-District 1. With their schedule, we have ALL EIGHT schedules from 3A-District 1 teams for this season. Thank you all for getting them in so quickly.

ATLANTIC COAST LOGO

The Stingrays kick off the season with a trip across town to Bishop Snyder for the one-day North Florida Duals tournament on December 7; it’s a traditional stop for them. Atlantic Coast will then host Gateway Conference and district rival Sandalwood in a midweek home dual on the 11th, and then head north to Fernandina Beach for its inaugural Dual in the Dunes on the 14th. Atlantic Coast will head to Gateway rival Wolfson for an away dual on the 18th, then will go over to Sandalwood for the 2nd Bell-Raulerson Invitational, a two-day IBT, on the 20th and 21st. After that, the Stingrays will break for the holidays.

January will begin with Atlantic Coast going to the two-day Keystone Memorial, hosted by Fleming Island, on the 3rd and 4th. This is a two-day duals tournament, I believe, this year. Next will be the 3A-District 1 dual team tournament at Oakleaf on the 8th, with the possibility of Region 1 duals at the District 1 champ’s home gym on the 16th and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. The next regular-season event for the Stingrays will be the Joe Bees Memorial Battle of the Border at Yulee, a two-day IBT, on the 10th and 11th. ACHS will have an away midweek dual at district rival Bartram Trail on the 15th.

February competition for the Stingrays will begin with the first day of the Gateway Conference two-day IBT at Fletcher on January 31st. Atlantic Coast will have its Senior Night home dual on the 5th against Mandarin, and will then wrap up the regular season with an appearance at Clay’s two-day Rotary IBT on the 7th and 8th.

So. That’s 58 schedules. We are two-thirds complete. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???

#Schedules19-20: Bozeman Is In, 29 TO GO (Wait, What?)

We are up to our 57th schedule thus far. We still have 29 to go.

Didn’t we have 29 to go with Lee? Is this bad math again? Why is that? I’ve been advised that there’s going to be a second independent team in the coverage area this year! We’re going to be covering Union County this year, under the direction of former GHS coach Patrickk McDonald. We’re to be getting a schedule in a few days.

Anyway, back to business. Our second submission of the day is from Bozeman, which is staying in 1A-District 1. We still have five more teams that need to send in from the district.

BOZEMAN LOGO

Bozeman will kick off the season with a short trip over to district rival South Walton’s two-day roundrobin and IBT, Border Wars VII, which is set for December 6-7. The Bucks will host a midweek quad on the 12th (I don’t have the opponents on this one at this writing), and that will wrap up December competition. After that quad, the Bucks will break for the holidays.

January will open with the Bucks going to former district rival Mosley for the Dolphins’ two-day Bash duals tournament, which was hosted elsewhere in prior years. That event is scheduled for the 3rd and 4th. Next up will be the 1A-District 1 dual team tournament, which North Bay Haven is hosting on the 9th, with the possibility of Region 1 duals at the District 1 champ on the 16th and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. The next regular-season event on the Bozeman calendar sees it going to district rival Wewahitchka for the two-day Gator Brawl roundrobin/IBT tournament on the 17th and 18th. Should the Bucks not qualify out for dual state, they’ll go to district rival Bay’s George Mulligan Memorial two-day IBT on the 24th and 25th.

After a short break from competition, Bozeman’s regular season will come to a close with a trip to Chiles and the one-day Timberwolf Duals on February 8th.

So. That’s 57 schedules. Just one more to two-thirds complete. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???

#Schedules19-20: Robert E Lee Is In, 29 TO GO

We are up to our 56th schedule thus far.

Our first submission of the day is from Robert E. Lee, which is returning to 2A this year after a brief stint in 3A (my first year or two of Matmen, Lee was a 2A team). We are down to needing just two schedules out of the revamped 2A-District 3, of which the Generals are a part).

ROBERT E LEE LOGO

Robert E Lee kicks off the season with its traditional trip to Gateway Conference and new district rival Terry Parker for the Arlington Optimist Invitational, a two-day IBT, on December 6-7. The Generals will then host a midweek tri-meet, with Baldwin and First Coast in attendance, on the 11th before taking their traditional trip to Tallahassee for Chiles and Lincoln’s two-day Capital City Classic IBT on the 13th and 14th. After that, Robert E Lee will break for the holidays.

January kicks off with the Generals heading to Lake City for Columbia’s two-day Tiger Duals on the 3rd and 4th. Next up will be the 2A-District 3 dual team tournament, which Fletcher will be hosting on the 7th, with the possibility of Region 1 duals on the 16th, hosted by the District 3 champ, and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. Robert E Lee’s next regular-season event will see the Generals go back to Terry Parker for the USMC Duals on the 10th and 11th. Lee will then host single duals, first hosting Raines in a midweek dual on the 15th and then hosting Bartram Trail two weeks later, on the 29th.

February competition for the Generals will begin on January 31st, with the first day of the two-day Gateway Conference IBT, hosted by Fletcher. That event will conclude on the 1st. Next up will be a home dual with FSDB on the 5th (although per a very early schedule I had the Dragons at a quad meet hosted by Seabreeze on the same date). Robert E Lee will conclude the regular-season with a traditional appearance at Clay’s two-day Rotary IBT on the 7th and 8th.

So. That’s 56 schedules. Just one more to two-thirds complete. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???

#Schedules19-20: Forest Is In, 30 TO GO

We are up to our 55th schedule thus far.

The schedule from Forest, in Ocala, was waiting for me when I got to my office today. The Wildcats are our fourth team out of the revamped 3A-District 2. Still needing three more from that district.

forest

Forest begins the year on the second week of December; that weekend, the Wildcats will travel to Port St Lucie for the Steadwell-Grow Memorial tournament (not sure about the format for that one). That is Forest’s only scheduled event, as of now, for December.

January will begin with the 3A-District 2 dual team tournament, which University-Orange City is hosting on the 9th, with the possibility of Region 1 competition at the District 1 champion’s gym on the 16th and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. Forest’s next regular-season event will be an away midweek dual at district and intracity rival West Port on the 22nd; the Wildcats will then go to Belleview for another away midweek dual on the 29th.

February competition for the Wildcats will begin on January 31st, with the first day of the two-day Moskowitz IBT, hosted by George Jenkins. That event will conclude on the 1st. Next up will be the Marion County tournament, which West Port is hosting, on the 5th. The regular season will conclude with Forest going back to Belleview for the two-day Diamondback Duals on the 7th and 8th.

So. That’s 55 schedules. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???

#Schedules19-20: Wewahitchka Is In, 31 TO GO

We are up to our 54th schedule thus far.

This afternoon’s precap comes in from Wewahitchka in 1A-District 1; it’s our second one from this district, meaning that — this year — we still have six in the district that are still out with 30 days to go before #TurkeyNWrestling rolls out.

WEWAHITCHKA LOGO

The Gators begin 2019-20 with a return trip to the two-day Panther Prowl at Ridgeview, where they started the season last year, on December 6-7, the first weekend of the year. Next up is an out-of-state, but significantly shorter trip on the second weekend, as Wewa will go to the Swede Umbach Invitational, a two-day roundrobin event, on the 13th and 14th, at Auburn, ALA. The third weekend is, as of now, a girls’ weekend, as the Wewa girls wrestlers will travel to Matanzas for the Lady Pirate Classic on the 21st. Between Christmas and New Year’s, the Gators will go to Shreveport, LA, for the Lone Survivor two-day tournament, hosted by Parkway HS there.

In January, Wewa opens at former district rival Mosley’s two-day The Bash dual tournament, a tournament that has shifted hosts this season. After that, the Gators will compete in 1A-District 1 dual team tournament action at North Bay Haven on the 9th, with the possibility of Region 1 tournament action at the District 1 champion on the 16th and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. The next regular-season event begins on the 10th, as Wewa road-trips back over to the Atlantic side and Yulee’s two-day Joe Bees Memorial Battle of the Border, a two-day IBT that ends on the 11th. The third weekend of the month will have the Gators their annual mid-January roundrobin event, the Gator Brawl, on the 17th and 18th; the following weekend, they’ll travel to district rival Bay’s inaugural George Mulligan Memorial on the 24th and 25th.

February competition for the Gators will begin on January 31st, with the first day of the Wakulla IBT, which will conclude on the 1st. For a majority of the team, the regular season will end at Chiles on the 8th with the one-day Timberwolf Duals, while girls’ state at Dr Phillips, on the 14th and 15th, wraps it up for the Gator girls wrestlers. Wewa will host the 1A-District 1 traditional tournament on the 21st, a Friday-evening start.

So. That’s 54 schedules. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???

#Schedules19-20: West Nassau Is In, 32 To Go

We are up to our 53rd schedule thus far. Our Georgia previews are in the hopper just waiting for 6 a.m. on Friday; our main focus tonight is on #NextLevel for both states. Tomorrow I will send out a blast email to the north Florida coaches; we will go to a weekly schedule on those and the dates will move to Wednesdays.

Today’s schedule comes in from West Nassau in the revamped 1A-District 3. We only have one schedule missing from that district with 30 days to go before #TurkeyNWrestling rolls out.

WEST NASSAU LOGO

The Warriors begin the season where they have traditionally, with a trip to former district rival and current region rival Bishop Snyder and the Cardinals’ North Florida Duals on December 7, a one-day dual tournament. They’ll stay in single-day dual-tournament mode for the second weekend, with a trip to Oakleaf for its inaugural Friday Knight Lights dual tournament on the 13th and then to county rival Fernandina Beach for its inaugural Dual in the Dunes one-day event on the 14th. County championships are scheduled as a midweek tri-meet on the 17th (I’m still not sure who’s hosting, believe it’s Fernandina), and the Warriors will stay in Nassau County that weekend, competing in the two-day Yulee Duals on the 20th and 21st. After that, West Nassau will break for the holidays.

January will kick off with competition in the 1A-District 3 dual team tournament at Episcopal on the 6th, with the possibility of Region 1 duals at the District 3 champion on the 16th and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. The first regular-season event of the month will be a second trip over to Yulee on the 10th-11th, to compete in the Joe Bees Memorial Battle of the Border, a two-day IBT. The following week, West Nassau has a Friday-night away tri-meet at Wayne County (GA) along with Effingham County, on the 17th. After that, the Warriors are off the competitive mats for two weeks.

February competition for the Warriors will begin on January 31st, with the first day of the Wakulla IBT, which will conclude on the 1st. West Nassau wraps up the regular season with a trip to Englewood for one more Friday-night dual tournament, this one called the Rams Classic.

So. That’s 53 schedules. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???

LMS’ Schaefer Brings Home NUWAY Hardware

The next Clay County hammer.

schaefer
Lakeside Middle School eighth-grader Kaden Schaefer had a strong weekend while competing in the NUWAY Great Lakes Championships Saturday and Sunday for the Indiana Outlaws in Olivet, MI. On Saturday in individual competition, Schaefer, who trains off-season with North Florida Wrestling Academy, was 5-0 in the 15-and-under age group, 102-108 weight class, with a pin, two majors, a decision and forfeit. Against HS-aged competition, Schaefer was third (1-2) at 108, with a win by decision and one of his losses was by decision to Outlaws club mate Marcello Milani, the Grappler Fall Classic champ at 105. On Sunday, wrestling for the Outlaws White HS team in duals, Schaefer was 3-2 on the day, again at 108, with a pin and two decisions. His two losses came against Milani and USA Folkstyle Nationals champ Ty Whalen (Photo submitted by Todd Schaefer).

#Schedules19-20: Godby Is In, 33 TO GO

We are up to our 52nd schedule thus far. We had 10 schedules on the Georgia side come in today (an 11th one tonight that I am not prepping until Friday). I’ve not seen that many schedules come in in one day before.

Today’s schedule comes in from Godby in the revamped 1A-District 2. We’re down to just one schedule needed for that district (assuming, as I do, that Maclay and Rickards will once again not have programs in 2019-20).

GODBY LOGO

The Cougars will begin the season at city and district rivals Florida High and their two-day roundrobin, the Cam Brown Seminole Classic, on December 6-7. The following weekend, Godby will stay in town for Chiles and Lincoln’s two-day IBT, the Capital City Classic, on the 13th and 14th. After that, the Cougars will take an extended holiday break.

January will kick off with the 1A-District 2 dual team tournament, hosted by Florida High on the 9th, with the possibility of Region 1 duals at the District 1 champion’s home gym on the 16th and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. Godby will then go to crosstown rival Lincoln for its one-day IBT, the Trojan Invitational, on the 18th.

February competition for the Cougars will begin on January 31st, with the first day of the Wakulla IBT, which will conclude on the 1st. Godby will then head back to Chiles for the Timberwolf Duals, a one-day dual tournament, on the 8th, and will engage in a home dual against crosstown rival Leon on the 12th. The Cougars’ regular season closes on the 13th, when they’ll compete in Chiles’ midweek quad; thus far Ridgeview is the only other team that we have for that quad along with Godby.

So. That’s 52 schedules. We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???
