North Florida Matmen staff report
Kishma Davis (Pace ’19) has found a home in, of all places, central Arkansas.
After a nice career wrestling for the Patriots — Davis was a 2A-District 1 and 2A-Region 1 champ last year after not wrestling for Pace as a junior (he was third at districts in 2017 and was 1 match short of states) — he has settled in as a consistent starter — and producer — at Central Baptist College, located just north of Little Rock and less than two hours west from Memphis, TN.
This week has been a pretty good week for Davis. Thursday night, he was one of three Floridians to take wins in back-to-back-to-back matches in CBC’s away win over Oklahoma Wesleyan, 24-22.
Competing at 141, Davis shut out Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Grant Sullivan, 4-0. Fellow Floridians Brian Mas (Cardinal Gibbons) also had a shutout win at 133 and Raivyn Alicea (Springstead, by way of Bacone College) won by fall at 149.
The win capped off a week in which Davis became the first CBC wrestler in two seasons to win Wrestler of the Week honors by the American Midwest Conference. Davis had been 4-2 in that week, with two dual wins and then produced the top Mustang finish at the Oklahoma City Open last weekend.
Davis will swing back into action with his teammates on Saturday at the Southern Scuffle in Dallas.
