We are up to our 81st schedule thus far.
We picked up our last schedule from 2A-District 4 this morning — if I had stayed up 15 minutes longer, I would have gotten it live — with Belleview. We have just one schedule left to get for Marion County (West Port’s). FIVE LEFT!
The Diamondbacks will begin the season on the road at Weeki Wachee for its two-day duals tournament on December 6-7 (that’s been on my schedule every year since the first year of the site). After that sizable duals tournament, Belleview will switch over to a sizable IBT, making the short hop to Hernando for its two-day Kiwanis Invitational on the 13th and 14th. After that, the Diamondbacks will break for the holidays.
January kicks off with Belleview traveling to new region rival Columbia for the Tiger Duals on the 3rd and 4th. Next will be 2A-District 4 dual team competition at Matanzas on the 11th, with the possibility of Region 1 duals at the District 3 champ on the 16th and state duals at Osceola on the 24th and 25th. The Diamondbacks’ next regular-season event will involve a trip to Inverness for Citrus’ Ed Kilpatrick IBT, a one-day event on the 18th. From there, Belleview will drive over to Daytona Beach for new district rival Seabreeze’s one-day duals tournament, the Ray Hollingsworth Duals, on the 25th. The month will close with the Diamondbacks hosting their Senior Night event in a midweek dual — their first of the season — against county rival Forest on the 29th.
Unlike many teams in the coverage area, February wrestling for Belleview will actually begin on the 1st, as it will go to Dade City for Pasco’s one-day duals tournament that day. Next up will be the Marion County Conference tournament (not sure of the format on that one) on the 5th, with West Port hosting. Belleview will then travel to South Lake for a midweek away dual on the 6th and then host the two-day Diamondback Duals on the 7th and 8th. The regular season will wrap up with the Diamondback Duals going over to Villages for its one-day T.D. Talbott Legion Duals tournament on the 15th.
So. That’s 81 schedules. Nearly 95% complete. Three from the Panhandle. Two from the center of the coverage area (one north, one south). We need more. We could use YOUR SCHOOL’S SCHEDULE. Question is…WHO’S NEXT???
Find us on Facebook at North Florida Matmen or on Twitter at @NorthFLAMatmen. We want your schedules for the 2019-20 season. Head coaches SHOULD email them to our work email.
