North Florida Matmen staff report
MT VERNON, GA — It was a banner Friday night for north Florida alumni competing for Brewton-Parker.
The Barons hammered Central Baptist, 51-0, and Huntingdon, 47 to -1, in a pair of home duals to improve to 3-0 for the duals season.
And three different north Florida alums picked up a pair of victories in the process.
At 149, Aaron Fountain (Suwannee ’12) had a major and a decision. Fountain majored former Springstead wrestler Raivyn Alicea, 20-8, in the first dual of the night, and came back with an 11-4 win over Huntingdon’s Quintez Pearson.
Next up was Jonathan Whiting (Clay ’16) at 184. Whiting pinned Central Baptist’s Taylor Traffanstedt and Huntingdon’s Mac Hirsch for a max-point evening.
Finally, freshman Cameron Carr (Lake Weir ’19) completed the area sweep, competing at 285, with a 9-4 win over Central Baptist’s Cody Freeman and fall over Huntingdon’s Joey Pearson (Ft Walton Beach ’17).
Results of the Huntingdon-Central Baptist were not available at this writing; we will update later if they become available. In the meantime, we do not know about Pearson’s match with Central Baptist.
In the same way, we have just one result for Central Baptist’s Kishma Davis (Pace ’19). Davis fell to Brewton-Parker’s Nicholas Hara, 8-7, in the opening dual.
UT-Chattanooga 47, Davidson 0: At Davidson, it was tough sledding for the Wildcats in their home opener, as the visiting Mocs took eight bonus-point wins. At 165, Noah Satterfield (Marysville OH ’15, family in Ponte Vedra Beach area) started for Davidson (0-3 in duals, 0-1 SoCon), with a 24-10 loss to Chattanooga’s Andrew Nicholson.
