#YouthRecap: Lake Asbury Adds Tiger Title To Trophy Case

GREEN COVE SPRINGS — For the second consecutive Saturday, Lake Asbury held off both Green Cove Springs and Wilkinson to take an area middle-school invitational IBT.

This time round, it was Lake Asbury’s Tiger Invitational, as Lake Asbury outpointed Green Cove Springs, 294.5-257, for the team title.

Wilkinson was third with 252 points, followed by Oakleaf (137.5), Lakeside (120), Episcopal (109.5), Lake City (51.5) and Bolles (22).

Below follows a brief tournament summary:

75: Green Cove Springs’ Caleb Green bookended a 9-4 decision over the eventual 4th with two pins, with the second in 1:51 in the finals over Wilkinson’s Damian Davis (decision prior to final).

80: Lake Asbury’s KJ Rheaume had one victory to win first place, with a 17-2 win over Episcopal’s BJ Hart (pin prior to final).

85: Lake Asbury’s Shane Jourdan picked up two pins, with a fall over the eventual 3rd in the semis and a pin in 39 seconds in the championship match over Episcopal’s Clem Nelson (decision prior to final).

90: The Tigers’ Jacob Bucci picked up three falls, with a quarterfinal pin over the eventual 3rd, a semifinal pin over the eventual 4th and the third in the finals over Shane Duhaylunsod (pin and decision prior to final) in 1:36.

95: Lakeside’s Matthew Newman had three falls for his bracket victory, with a semifinal pin over the eventual 3rd and a fall in the finals 2:44 over Green Cove’s Vonte Burke (pin prior to final).

100: Green Cove’s Joseph Forte pinned his way into the finals, with a quarterfinal pin over the eventual 3rd, and then decisioned teammate Laird Duhaylunsod (pin & decision prior to final), 7-3, in the title match.

106: Lake Asbury’s Wyatt Leduc had three pins in 2:33 to reach the finals, where he decisioned Wilkinson’s Grady Woodard (3 pins prior to final), 4-1, for the championship.

113: Oakleaf’s Markos Barfield pinned his way to the finals, then majored Green Cove’s Diana Rivera (major and pin prior to final), with a 13-2 victory for the weight-class title.

120: Wilkinson’s Zane Raulerson pinned his way through the bracket, with a quarterfinal pin over the eventual 3rd and semifinal fall over the eventual 4th, falling Lakeside’s Christopher Chop (2 pins & decision prior to final) in 1:31 for the championship.

126: Wilkinson’s Dylan Johns also pinned his way through the draw, with a semifinal pin over the eventual 4th and fall in the finals over Green Cove’s Matthew Kotler (pin & decision prior to final) in 2:54 for the title.

132: Green Cove’s Gunner Ivey had three consecutive pins for the weight-class win, with a semifinal pin over the eventual third and a 43-second fall in the championship match over Lake City’s Alex Cortese (2 pins prior to final).

138: Lake Asbury’s Nathan Bilancione picked up three pins, with a fall in the finals in 1:59 over Episcopal’s Azhariah Queen (major & pin prior to final).

145: Lakeside’s Caiden Kowal pinned his way into the title match, with a 7-1 decision in the championship match over Lake Asbury’s Hayden Meszaros (pin & major prior to final).

152: Lake Asbury’s Gavin Rossow had three pins in 1:50 to reach the finals, where he pushed past Episcopal’s Christian McGarity (2 pins prior to final), 15-11, for the bracket victory.

160: Green Cove Springs’ Nathan Newman picked up two pins in taking the weight class, with a fall in the semis over the eventual 4th and pin in 1:37 in the championship match over Wilkinson’s Tucker Cody (pin prior to final).

170: Wilkinson’s Austin Joiner picked up three falls in 2:11, with a 24-second fall in the title match over Lake Asbury’s Emmanuel Cassan (pin prior to final).

182: Lake Asbury’s Trevor Bramlitt had two pins, with a fall over the eventual 4th in the semis and a pin in 1:38 in the championship match over Wilkinson’s Kendric O’Neal (pin prior to final).

195: The Tigers’ Matt Grenville had a pin in the semis over the eventual third, then decisioned Green Cove’s Jadon Bell (pin prior to final), 7-1, for the championship.

220: Green Cove’s Gage Isbell pinned the eventual 4th-place finisher in the semis, then had a 10-2 major in the finals over Wilkinson’s Josiah Pierre (pin prior to final).

285: In a two-person bracket, Green Cove’s Zeth Wager falled Wilkinson’s Luke Green in 15 seconds for the title.
