INVERNESS — Columbia finished second and Suwannee third this past weekend at the Rob Hermann Duals, hosted by Citrus on Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers (17-2 for the season) were 7-1 in the tournament while the Bulldogs (25-13) were 6-2. Both teams fell to Pasco during the course of the tournament: Columbia in round 1 (36-31) and Suwannee in one of the final rounds (45-30).

The Bulldogs’ second loss came at the hands of the Tigers in round 7, as Columbia won by a 43-27 count.

The Tigers had seven straight wins after opening with the loss to Pasco, taking down Lecanto (51-26), Central (Brooksville) (70-12), Citrus (43-33), Clearwater Central Catholic (60-11), Rockledge (46-33), Suwannee and Steinbrenner (50-16), in succession.

Columbia had just one starter that was 8-0 on the weekend, as Brett Millard (106/113) had five pins and one decision in taking eight victories. Two additional Tigers, Thomas Greene (7-0 at 138/145, 4 pins & decision) and Alex McGuigan (6-0 at 138/145, 4 majors & decision), were also unbeaten.

Ian McGuigan (132, 4 pins, 2 majors & decision), Obie Smith (152/160, 7 pins) and Preston O’Quinn (160/170, 5 pins) all were 7-1 for Columbia, while Shawn Raggins (182/195, 3 pins) was 6-2 and Jesse Braden (220, 2 pins) 5-3.

Cooper Mote (126, 4 pins) and Joseph Rice (170/182, pin & decision) were both 4-3 for the Tigers, while Jayden Thomas (120, pin) was 4-4. In a regular but not exclusive starting role, Daveyon Brown (145/152, 2 pins & decision) was 4-1 for Columbia.

Suwannee was 5-0 on Friday, with a sixth win Saturday, with victories over Rockledge (53-18), Crystal River (62-10), Steinbrenner (53-27), Weeki Wachee (46-24), South Lake (60-12) and host Citrus (58-9).

Like Columbia, Suwannee had one wrestler that was 8-0 on the weekend. Timothy Jolicoeur (126) had five pins, one major and two decisions for the Bulldogs. Xander Kirkland had a 5-0 record (5 pins at 120) in a regular but not exclusive starting role for Suwannee.

Foster Swain (106/113, 4 pins) and Caleb Parsons (145, 2 pins/tech/major/2 decisions) were both 7-1 for Suwannee, while Blaine Howard (182, 5 pins & decision) was 6-2 and Austin Howard (152, 3 pins & tech) 5-3 for the Bulldogs.

Tyson Musgrove (138, 2 pins/major/decision) was 4-3 and Brody Boehm (106/113, pin & decision) and Robert Robinson (220) were both 4-4. In significant part-time roles, Waylon Poole (120, pin), Jaxon Sansouci (132, 2 pins & tech), Ayden Kirby (132, 2 pins) and Garris Reed (285) all had three wins.
