#TheSeason2019-20: Maclay

Hey guys!

The work continues. We are bringing back, for its sixth year, #TheSeason. We didn’t do these first year, but have ever since. It’s something nobody else does. We compile all season records and write a wrapup for each team.

We are now starting the fourth round of random selections from the 11 districts, plus our independent teams. Our 36th team overall and fourth team out of 1A-District 2 is Maclay.

You can see everything I have on the Marauders in 2019-20 here –>  MACLAY

Win/loss record: Maclay did not compete in dual meets as a varsity team in 2019-20, as far as we’ve been able to determine. Please review the attached document for a summary of the Marauders’ performance in IBT events.

maclay Season in a nutshell: We had been trying for a couple of seasons to reach out to the coaching contacts at Maclay, and had heard they were competing at the JV level in Tallahassee-area events. This year, the Marauders competed in two tournaments as a varsity team, placing 28th at Chiles’ two-day IBT, the Capital City Classic, on December 13-14. Maclay also was seventh at the 1A-District 2 tournament. While the Marauders had only two wrestlers suit up at the varsity level, and just one that competed in the post-season, both would be eligible to come back in 2020-21. Hopefully, the program can continue to build and add more kids next season.

Key returners (15+ matches this past season) for 2020-21 (with year in school as they’ll be next year): Joe Butler (senior, 0-4 at 182, 0-2 at districts).

Graduation losses (15+ matches this past season or post-season experience) from this year’s team: None.
