1A-R2 Records Update: Wesley Chapel

Hey guys!

The work continues. Because of course it does.

If you’ve been around a while, you’ve seen us do some things to talk about more of Florida wrestling besides the coverage area. We are therefore happy to start up — because we were worried we wouldn’t have time — our Records Updates for the remainder of 3A-Region 1 and 1A-Region 2.

We somehow got out of rotation for a bit there, but we’re back with a District 6 team out of 1A-Region 2 today. With any luck, we’re done with these by October 1. Our seventh 1A team out of District 6 is Wesley Chapel.

You can see everything I have on the Wildcats in 2019-20 here –>  WESLEY CHAPEL

Win/loss record: 0-2 in dual meets searchable by Matmen. Please review the attached document for a summary of the Wildcats’ performance in IBT events. All individual records noted below are as searchable online. For post-season starters, asterisks have been added to win/loss records to reflect their incompleteness.

Note: More complete win/loss records are searchable for the team’s roster on Trackwrestling; however, it is unclear whether those records include the traditional tournament series, so they are not included here.

Tournament results (where results are complete): 15th at Corey Hill Memorial. 9th at 1A-District 6 traditional tournament. 27th at 1A-Region 2 traditional tournament.

Projected key returners (15+ searchable matches this past season or post-season experience) for 2020-21 (with year in school as they’ll be next year): Kevin Mesquita (junior, 0-6* at 113, district 4th, 0-2 at regions); Caleb Hall (sophomore, 2-4* at 120, district 4th, 1-2 at regions); Ayden Millan (senior, 3-4* at 126, 1 match from regions); Quinn Hopkins (junior, 2-4* at 132, 0-2 at districts); Briac Riles (junior, 5-4* at 220, 1 match from regions); Alberto Lerma (senior, 0-4* at 285, 0-2 at districts).

Graduation losses (15+ searchable matches or post-season experience) from this year’s team: Tyson Gillott (8-6* at 145, district 3rd, 1-2 at regions); Seth Raigoza (1-5* at 170, 1 match from regions); Matthew Santiago (2-4* at 195, 1 match from regions).
