DES MOINES, IA — Micah Lanier (Wakulla ’18) was the only #NextLevel area wrestler competing in the Grand View Open on Sunday.
Wrestling at 157 pounds, Lanier was 2-2 on the day and placed fifth in his weight class.
After a loss by fall (1:19) to NAIA’s third-ranked Tanner Abbas of Grand View, the eventual champ, Lanier bounced back with a 20-7 major decision over teammate Trevor Zellner in round 1 of the consis.
After a loss by fall (3:35) to Life’s Jace Luchau in the consi semis, Lanier won by medical forfeit in the fifth place match over Life’s Gregory Ewert.
