#NextLevel: Dec 12-13 Results

WALESKA, GA — Sunday matched up three NAIA heavyweights at the Reinhardt Duals, as the third-ranked hosts faced off with #4 Lindsey Wilson and #5 Southeastern.
At the same time, three different Matmen alumni got a chance to compete as well.
Ethan Gustilo
Getting the best of it among the alumni was Southeastern’s Ethan Gustilo (Oakleaf ’18), who was 1-1 in two appearances at 157 for the Fire. Gustilo lost, 5-3, to Reinhardt’s Cole Luallen as the Fire fell to the hosts, 20-16, but won by forfeit in a 48-0 victory over Truett McConnell.
Jaquan English
The Fire’s Jaquan English (18th nationally at 141) took a pair of losses, losing by fall (2:00) to third-ranked Trent Leon of Reinhardt, and also losing via 16-0 tech fall (3:23) to Lindsey Wilson’s Tanner DeMien.
Tanner Hill
Reinhardt freshman Tanner Hill (Fleming Island ’20) made a start for the Eagles at 165 against Truett McConnell, falling to the Bears’ Mitchell Thompson, 16-6. Reinhardt would go on to take a 38-10 win.
Kaz Maia
Maia wins two: At Lebanon TN, Cumberland rolled up a pair of big dual victories at home on Saturday, and Kaz Maia (Flagler Palm Coast ’16) played a hand in both.
Maia, wrestling and ranked 6th nationally at 149, took an 11-6 decision over Central Baptist’s Alejandro Mas, a former Cardinal Gibbons competitor, as the Phoenix won, 54-0.
Maia then pinned Midway’s Brent Hudgins in 4:11 as Cumberland took a 44-11 team win.
Luke Davis
Davis starts for Doane: At Crete, NE, Luke Davis (Clay ’20) got the start at 125 for host and 18th-ranked Doane in its 37-11 win over Midland on Saturday.
Davis won by forfeit, suiting up at 125 for the Tigers.
Warrior Women’s Open: At Indianapolis on Sunday, former Life wrestler Zoe Wight, who attended Gulf Breeze HS, competed unattached in the 143-lb weight class. Wight was 1-2 in the tournament, with a 10-0 tech fall over Adrian’s Brooklyn Slate sandwiched around losses by fall on the front to UCumberlands-KY’s Hailey Budney (3:51) and on the back to Life’s Hailey Finn (5:44).
