#DailyRdp: 01/12 Duals

WAYCROSS, GA — Yulee didn’t get much time for reflection on last week’s good works and Thursday’s upcoming 1A-Region 1 dual rounds.

Tuesday night, the Hornets swung back into competition with a battle-toughened opponent getting ready for its duals tournament run, traveling to Ware County where the hosts won four straight matches between 182 and 285 to secure a 40-36 win.

Earlier in the night, Yulee (7-3) hammered Appling County behind 12 weight-class wins, 72-12.

Double winners for Yulee were Logan Pugh (106, pin over Ware), Jacob Proffit (113, pin over Ware), Austin Adamson (132, 2 pins), Dylan Johns (138, 2 pins), Jesse Johnson (152, pin over Ware) and Collin Sewell (170, pin over Ware).

Tristan Martinez (126), Isaiah Shook (145), Aston Ricks (160), Keleb Reddish (182) and Marcel Reeves (220) each won by fall in the Appling dual.

The Hornets will face Bolles in a 1A-Region 1 dual quarterfinal Thursday night at Clay, with the possibility of a semifinal dual to follow.

Niceville 42, Crestview 40: At Crestview, the Eagles were able to send one match to a full six minutes, and that proved to be a difference-maker in the outcome of the dual.

Aiden Simpson (120), Noah Tritz (126), Chris DeGrella (132), Andreas Maldanado-Negron (138), Martin Black (170), Bryce Travis (182) and David Polaski (220) each won by fall for the Eagles (9-4).

In answer, Crestview got pins from Benjamin Gross (152), Layne Franks (160), Mathew Sharp (195) and Josh Green (285), with forfeit wins at 106 and 113 and Rowan Gomez (145) taking a 14-6 major at 145.

Niceville will go to Wewahitchka’s one-day Gator Brawl on Saturday; Crestview will get there as well, but first has a tri-meet at Gulf Breeze on Friday, along with Tate.

Mandarin 51, Bolles 30: At Bolles, the visiting Mustangs took advantage of a short-handed Bulldog lineup, but also won four of the seven contested matches.

Mandarin (3-1) picked up three consecutive pins from Devin Foster (120), Ethan Harvey (126) and Cotrie Warren (132), plus Tony Carter (182) pulled together a 19-15 decision. The Mustangs had five forfeit victories (113, 145, 170, 195 and 220)

Bolles (5-14) got its points on falls from Skylar Malone (152), Jeffrey Ashby (160) and Jack Pyburn (285), with forfeit victories at 106 and 138.

Mandarin will be at the Westside Roundrobin on Saturday, while Bolles will go to Clay on Thursday night for a 1A-Region 1 quarterfinal dual against Yulee, with a possible semifinal dual in play.

Palatka 48, Orange Park 36: At Palatka, the host Panthers won six of seven weights between 126 through 182 to build a substantial lead in the dual.

The Panthers (6-7) picked up pins from Mikade Harvey (106), Alexander McCrystal (126), Brandon Lewis (132), Delton Nealy (145), Gaitlin Carreras (160), Samuel Lafferty (170), Vincent Washington (182) and Jack Tilton (220).

Orange Park (8-8) answered with falls for Davon Bailey (113), Trevion Sermons (152), Geoffrey Delice (195) and Jonothan Garcia (285), plus forfeit victories at 120 and 138.

Palatka will travel to Brooksville for 1A-Region 2 dual team competition with a quarterfinal dual against Weeki Wachee and a possible semifinal dual in play. Orange Park will host Oakleaf tonight.

Nease 42, Ponte Vedra 36: At Ponte Vedra, the visiting Panthers (7-9) secured the dual win, with two weights to follow, on Brielle Bibla’s fall at 106.

Nease got pins earlier in the dual from Jhon Olivar (126), Mateos Zajni (138), Andrew Ryan (145) and Kobe Ross (195), plus three major decisions from Anthony Tanza (13-4 at 152), Evan Higgins (9-0 at 220) and Paden Pinder (13-1 at 285).

Ponte Vedra (4-9) scored falls from Joseph Skinner (160), Rett Maritato (170), Zachary Underwood (182), Cynthia Kowitski (113) and Julian Villegas (120), with a forfeit win at 132.

The Panthers will travel to Tallahassee for Lincoln’s one-day Trojan Invitational on Saturday, while the Sharks will stay on the coast, driving to New Smyrna Beach on Thursday for a 2A-Region 1 quarterfinal dual against the host Barracudas, with a possible semifinal dual in play.

Still waiting on: We are still waiting on results from the Pedro Menendez/Atlantic dual; if that is received in timely order, a short description of the events will be added to this roundup.
