NEW SMYRNA BEACH — Local teams ruled the roost in Saturday’s five-team Barracuda Duals, hosted by New Smyrna Beach on Saturday.
The host ‘Cudas were 4-0 on the day, with an average margin of victory of 41.8 points per dual, taking wins over Astronaut (63-12), Viera (60-24), East River (62-18) and University (Orange City), 60-24.
New Smyrna Beach (15-1 in duals for the season) had two wins on the day at every weight class except for two. Thirteen different ‘Cudas had at least two wins individually, with eight of those taking at least three. The ‘Cudas had five wrestlers that were 4-0, four of those max-pointers (scoring six points for the team in every dual the team wrestled).
Outside of the loss to the hosts, University (Orange City) otherwise had a solid day of their own, taking second with a 3-1 record.
The Titans took victories over Viera (54-30), East River (43-36) and Astronaut (74-6) for their first duals wins of the year (3-3 for the season).
Twelve UOC wrestlers had at least two wins, while six had three. One Titan finished the day undefeated at 3-0.
New Smyrna Beach is off until Friday, when it takes on Pace for the 2A-Region 1 duals title at Osceola in the first day of the FHSAA state tournament. University (Orange City) will host Deltona on Wednesday.

THE ACES OF THE DAY
New Smyrna Beach: Junior Justis Chandler (138) was one of the ‘Cudas four max=pointers, going 4-0 with pins in the victories over Astronaut, East River and University (Orange City). Chandler never had to go past the second period on the day.
University (Orange City): Senior Christian Kennick (220) was 3-0 and the Titans’ only unbeaten on Saturday, with pins over New Smyrna Beach, East River and Astronaut.
