DELAND — Just one point separated 5 Star Conference rivals DeLand and Mainland Wednesday night.
A pair of 3-match runs from 106-120 and 152-170 helped the Bulldogs escape with a 39-38 victory.
Mainland (8-10) had a four-match run of its own from 126 through 145, as Isaias Davila (138) and Josh Rodgers (145) had pins and Brian Harris (126) took a 15-1 major, with a forfeit victory at 132. Brady Howe (220) won with a 19-11 major and the Buccaneers would collect a forfeit victory at 285.
Due to missing results from the Showdown at O-Town event last Saturday, individual recaps and an updated season record on the Bulldogs were not possible at this writing. DeLand next will wrestle on February 3 against Atlantic; the Buccaneers will wrestle Atlantic next, also, but on January 28.
