LONGWOOD — While most of central Florida’s attention, and a good chunk of the state’s, was fixed on state duals in Kissimmee over the weekend, six area girls’ teams had representation at Lyman’s Greyhound Open, which returned this year after a year’s absence from the schedule.
Among the local teams, Matanzas was tops in the event, placing seventh with 61 points. The Lady Pirates had two seconds and one third among the group.
University (Orange City) was 10th with 31.5 points (with one third and one fourth), followed by Clay (11th, 28, one champion), Middleburg & Oakleaf (T-17th, 12 points each) and Seminole (20th, four). The Broncos had one runnerup and Knights one third.
