LAKE BUTLER — Palatka took advantage of an uncharacteristically short-handed Union Cty lineup Thursday night; between that and five Panther pins, the visitors took down the host Tigers, 48-18.
Delton Nealy (145), Vincent Washington (182), Mikade Harvey (106), Ishmael Foster (113) and Brandon Lewis (138) each won by fall for the Panthers (7-8), with forfeit victories at 160, 220 and 285.
Union Cty answered with pins at 152 and 170, with a forfeit win at 126.
Both teams will reconvene in Saturday’s T D Talbott Legion Duals tournament at Villages, a traditional final-weekend event.
North Bay Haven 57, Arnold 22: At North Bay Haven, the host Buccaneers closed the dual out with seven straight weight-class wins.
North Bay Haven (7-4) had just one contested win, on Bryant Siegal’s sudden-victory 8-6 win at 138, with forfeit victories at 160, 170, 195, 285, 113, 126, 132, 145 and 152.
Arnold (7-8) took falls from Henlee Haynes (182), Valorie Soloria (106) and Lucas Biddle (120), plus a 13-5 major from Tanner Lewis at 220.
The Buccaneers close out their dual season tonight with an away dual at Marianna, while Arnold will go to Wewahitchka’s Gator Brawl on Saturday.
Episcopal 58, Bolles 16: At Bolles, the Jacksonville-based rivals wrapped up their dual seasons, with the Eagles (24-7) sweeping from 106 through 170.
Noah Meyer (138) won by fall for Episcopal, while Joe Jackson (132) took a 13-2 major and both Scott Busey (12-8 at 120) and Nicholas Pressley (12-7 at 126) won by decision. The Eagles added seven wins by forfeit.
Bolles (5-17) picked up a pair of pins up top from Ethan Asbury (182) and Jack Pyburn (220), with Cooper Fordham (285) taking a 14-5 major.
Bolles will be at Clay on Wednesday for the 1A-District 4 IBT, while Episcopal is off until the 20th and Yulee’s 1A-District 3 IBT.
Bozeman 36, Wewahitchka 24: At Bozeman, the 1A-District 1 rivals wrapped up their dual seasons, with the Bucks’ fuller lineup carrying the day.
Bozeman (3-10) got pins from Aireous Rocha (285), Daniel Pierce (113), Nicholas Simental (126) and Mason Shuller (132), with forfeit wins at 160 and 220.
For the visiting Gators, Tyler Johnson (106), Justin Johnson (120), Conner Roberts (138) and Bailey Cox (145) each won by fall.
The teams will reconvene on Saturday, when the Bucks visit Wewa at Gator Brawl.
Deltona 39, Atlantic 36: At Atlantic, the Wolves (7-18) won just one contested match, but carried the day to the dual win over their conference rivals behind a fuller lineup.
Jeffrey Root (126) took Deltona’s lone contested win, with an 8-6 decision. The Wolves bagged forfeits at 106, 113, 120, 145, 152 and 220.
Atlantic had three falls in the dual, plus three forfeit victories of its own.
Both teams’ dual seasons are now complete and both will be back on the mats Wednesday. Atlantic will be at Menendez for the 1A-5 IBT, while Deltona travels to Matanzas for the 2A-District 4 IBT.
Belleview splits: At Citrus, the visiting Diamondbacks (10-4 in duals for the season) took down Crystal River, 66-9, but fell to the hosts, 39-33.
Double winners for Belleview were Mark Willis (120, pin over Crystal River, decision over Citrus), Morgan Cole (132, pin over Crystal River, decision over Citrus), Andrew Davis (138, pin over Crystal River, major over Citrus), Eric McLaughlin (170, pin over Citrus) and Andrew Dunn (285, 2 pins).
Additionally, Zackery Young (113), Gage Alberty (126) and Zach McLaughlin (152) had pins over Crystal River, while Nathan Halstead (195) added a fall against Citrus.
Belleview’s regular season is now complete; the Diamondbacks are now off until the 2A-District 4 IBT at Matanzas on February 17.
