#TheSeason2020-21: DeLand

Hey guys!

The work continues. We are bringing back, for its seventh year, #TheSeason. We didn’t do these first year, but have ever since. It’s something nobody else does. We compile all season records and write a wrapup for each team. To get them completed more quickly, we are summarizing these a bit more than in seasons past.

Today, we are back on the downhill side of Round 3, with DeLand.

DELAND

You can see everything I have on the Bulldogs in 2020-21 here     –>  DELAND

Win/loss record: 10-12 in dual meets reported to Matmen. We were missing several duals results — all of their Showdown duals at Oviedo, three of their five in their home duals tournament, and then two sets of tri-meets/quads in late January/early February. Hopefully we do better next season.

Season in a nutshell:

  • 17th at Lady Clash of Titans, 12/4 (22 teams)
  • 7th at Clash of Titans, 12/5 (15 teams)
  • 3-1 (2nd) at Deltona Duals, 12/12 (5 teams)
  • 12th at 47th Annual Bill Scott Memorial, 12/19 (19 teams)
  • 2-2 (3rd) at 3A-District 2 Duals, 12/8 & 1/5 (5 teams)
  • 2-7 (13th overall) at Flagler Rotary, 1/29-30 (17 teams)
  • 5th at Bi-County Championship, 2/6 (9 teams)
  • T-57th at Girls’ State, 2/19-20 (118 teams)
  • 4th at 3A-District 2, 2/19 (7 teams)
  • 31st at 3A-Region 1, 2/26-27 (31 teams)

Zander Laurin Warrior: Isaiah Swint

  • After 0-4 start, won five of his next eight matches that were recorded with us
  • From Oviedo onward, hit some snags, with just three wins (at least two by forfeit), down the stretch
  • Nevertheless, kept on battling, even taking a shot at wrestling for fifth at districts to help team score points and maybe have a shot at regions
