MADISON, WI — A revamped Wisconsin lineup under the direction of head coach Chris Bono (Bolles ’92) kicked off the 2021-22 college season Monday night, with eight straight weight-class wins in taking a 30-3 win over visiting Buffalo.

The 19th-ranked Badgers (1-0) split the first two matches, but then reeled off a 27-0 run punctuated by back-to-back-to-back majors from Dean Hamiti (18-5 at 165, true freshman), Andrew McNally (10-2 at 174) and Christopher Weiler (10-2 at 184).
Wisconsin picked up decisions from Eric Barnett (4-2 at 125), Joseph Zargo (3-2 at 141), Austin Gomez (9-4 at 149), Garrett Model (15-11 at 157), Braxton Amos (8-2 at 197) and Trent Hillger (11-4 at 285).
The Badgers go back to work Saturday at the Michigan State Open in East Lansing, an unscored tournament.
