BREWTON, AL — Pace opened its 2021-22 duals season Tuesday night with a pair of dual victories over Alabama opponents, taking down host W S Neal (68-12) and Escambia County (78-0).
Double winners for the Patriots were Daniel Sabo (106/113), Alexander Mendez (106/113, pin), Jacob Young (126), Todd Pace (132, pin), Maeson Otwell (145, 2 pins), Jordan Baxter (152, 2 pins), Atticus Waters (160, pin & major), Ty Morgan (170, 2 pins), Isaac Waters (182, pin), Aidan Bryan (195, pin) and Hale Wood (220, 2 pins). Pace lost just one contested match on the night.
Next up for the Patriots (2-0 in duals) will be a trip to district rival Gulf Breeze’s Ryan Blackwell Invitational, a one-day IBT, on Saturday.
Suwannee 77, Bay 6: At Suwannee, the Tornadoes (0-2 in duals) were unable to find much footing in an in-school dual, nabbing just one victory from Trenton Wood (152), who won by fall.
Bay will compete in its second tournament of the season on Saturday, going to Auburn, AL, for the Swede Umbach Invitational, with pool competitions on Friday and flighted brackets — if previous versions of the Umbach continue this year — on Saturday.
