#ORLDailyRdp: December 8

BRADENTON — It’s a pretty good haul to Bradenton for a good chunk of the state on a school night, even leaving from Hagerty HS as the Huskies did Wednesday in traveling to Manatee.

But Hagerty made the cross-the-state trip count against a 3A statewide rival, taking down the Hurricanes, 37-31, on their home mat.

A 24-0 run from 170 through 220 helped power the Huskies in their duals opener, as falls from Ethan Gomez (170), Connor Gilliam (182), Hunter Tate (195) and Landon Revis (220) were critical to Hagerty’s success.

The Huskies also got a fall from Lochlann Higgins (113), plus six-minute wins from Blake Watts (13-5 at 152) and David Mejia (10-4) at 132.

Hagerty is now off until Saturday, when the Huskies will compete in the one-day Deltona Duals.

Timber Creek Girls Rumble: The Lady Wolfpack hosted delegations from Freedom (Orlando), Boone and Merritt Island in a callout-style event.

Leading the charge with three wins by fall was Chloe Shull at 155, who had pins over two Freedom wrestlers and a third from Merritt Island.

Bailey Waltz (130) won by fall twice in two appearances (one over Freedom and the second over Merritt Island), while Madison Waltz (135) took a pin over a Freedom wrestler in her lone match of the evening.

At 140/145, Hayden Proulx was 1-1 on the night to round out the Wolfpack list of victories, with one victory over a Freedom wrestler (at 145) and one loss to another (at 140).

Mainland 45, Lake Mary 30: At Daytona Beach, the Rams (1-1 in duals) found five max-point victories, giving up four forfeits to the hosts.

Winners of contested matches for Lake Mary were Nick Ghezzi (145), Aden Eliason (152) and Brock Binford (160), all by fall.

The Rams are off this weekend and will return to competition on December 15, with an appearance at former district rival Lake Brantley’s one-day Brawl event.
