SPRING HILL — West Port represented the coverage area in this weekend’s Corey Hill Memorial, hosted by Springstead, with the Wolfpack picking up a few medals and a T-8th team finish overall.
West Port finished with 107 points in the two-day IBT, won by Tampa’s Plant HS with 187.5 points. River Ridge (132), Cypress Creek (Wesley Chapel) (131), Zephyrhills Christian (130) and Springstead (122) rounded out the top five.
Individually, West Port’s Rowlin Richardson had the team’s top finish, taking third at 195. After a bye into the quarters, Richardson lost by fall to the eventual runnerup from Clearwater, but then came back with four falls in the consis to rally back to third, pinning Weeki Wachee in 1:27 in the bronze-medal match.
Additionally, Jhusthino Miranda (138) and Tyler Pinkowski (152) added fourths for the Wolfpack.
Miranda lost by fall to the eventual champ from Springstead in the 138 quarters, but had two pins in the consis to get to the third-place match, where he fell, 7-3, to Zephyrhills Christian. Pinkowski (front-side fall) fell to the eventual 3rd in the quarters by pin, but came back with a pin and two decisions to reach the bronze-medal round.
