ORLANDO — West Orange placed fourth in last weekend’s Falcon Duals, hosted by East River.
The Warriors used the event, a full 11-team roundrobin duals event, as their duals season-opener, going 7-3 on the weekend. West Orange took Friday wins over Colonial (45-24), Liberty (42-24), Cocoa Beach (48-9) and Lake Nona (42-36), with an opening-round loss to Winter Park (36-31).
On Saturday, West Orange opened with a 42-25 loss to host East River, then strung together three straight wins over Wekiva (39-15), Edgewater (54-12) and Cocoa (54-30) before the Warriors closed out with a loss to Jones, 40-33. Throughout the weekend, West Orange gave up forfeits in four weight classes.
Chris Perez (132) had the team’s top record of the weekend, as Perez was 9-1 with five pins, a major and decision.
Giordanny Perez (120/126, 2 pins), Conner Smith (138/145 on Friday, 145/152 on Saturday, 3 pins/major/decision), Lorenzo Perez (145/152, 3 pins) and Ayden Rieck (182/195, 5 pins) were each 8-2 for the Warriors, while Giovanny Perez (120/126, 2 pins & decision) was 7-3.
In a regular but not full-time role, Stacey Rhodes (138/145, pin & decision) was 7-0, while full-time starter Dominic Madrid (220, 3 pins & decision) was 5-5.
West Orange is now off through the holidays and will dual Windermere in the Battle for the Chain rivalry dual on January 4.
