PANAMA CITY — In a matchup of former district rivals, visiting Arnold won every contested match but one in taking a 39-24 victory over Rutherford Wednesday night.
The Marlins, in overcoming a 24-0 deficit, picked up pins from Eimantas Skirius (285), Jayden Brown (106), Zachary Wootton (120) and Alexander Neisler (132, in a dual-clinching fall), plus a 9-5 win at 138 from Braxton Cook. Arnold also received forfeit victories at 195 and 113.
The host Rams got a fall from Wyatt Griffin in the dual’s first contested match, at 145, with back-to-back-to-back forfeit victories at 152, 160 and 170 to go up 24-0.
Arnold is now off until the Marlins host the Spearfish Invitational on February 5, while Rutherford swings back into action this weekend at Wakulla’s MyHOUSE Big Bend Invitational, a two-day IBT starting Friday.
Tate 46, Crestview 36: At Tate on the Aggies’ Alumni Night, the hosts created a successful evening behind seven contested victories and a win by forfeit.
Lahela Grady (120), Caden Graham (138), Caiden Stone (145), Carson White (152), Jacob Turner (195) and Landen George (220) all won by fall for Tate (7-14 in duals for the season), with Julian Agosto posting a 9-1 major decision at 113 for the Aggies.
Crestview (4-8) had four wins by pin from Gary Gessendoff (126), Landon Brown (132), Layne Franks (170) and Salvador Gallegos (182), with forfeits at the bookends of the lineup, 106 and 285.
Both teams are in action this weekend, with Tate at Pace’s one-day tournament on Saturday and Crestview at Wakulla’s Big Bend Invitational starting Friday.
