CRAWFORDVILLE — In what has become the traditional regular-season finale for both teams, Wakulla finished its Senior Night on an up note, with a 41-29 dual victory over Lincoln Thursday night.
The key stretch for the War Eagles (12-2 in duals for the season) came between 126 and 182, as Wakulla won all but one match during those weights, outscoring the Trojans 36-6 during that group.
Juan Jimenez (126), Nate Jacobs (132), Hayden Reeves (145) and Tyler Edenfield (182) each won by fall during that stretch, with Jae T Thaxton (15-0 in 4:59 at 160) adding a tech fall and Isaiah Wilson (11-2 at 138) a major decision.
Daniel Brattain (11-5 at 170) picked up a decision victory during that group of weights, with Julian Harvey (29-13 in 5:11 at 106) also adding a technical-fall win.
Lincoln (4-2) largely controlled at the book ends, with Omarion LaRoach (220) and Nic Weaver (285) picking up pins. Cayden Bevis (26-11 in 2 minutes) had a first-period TF for the Trojans, with Vaniel Caceres (18-10 at 113) and Jashawn Washington (11-3 at 120) also scoring bonus-point wins in the lowers. Connor Edwards (152) won by fall to put a brief dent in Wakulla’s run in the middle.
Both teams’ regular seasons are now complete, and both teams will travel for district competition. Lincoln will go to Columbia for the 2A-District 2 IBT on Wednesday, while Wakulla will compete in the 1A-District 2 IBT at Suwannee on February 18.
Mosley 64, Bozeman 12: At Mosley in an in-school dual among former district rivals, the Dolphins took advantage of six forfeit wins, but won a majority of contested matches as well.
Kyle Mahler (113), Landon Jacobs (145), John Mengel (170) and Nicholas Bacot (285) all won by pin for Mosley (3-3), with Sebastian Schultz taking a 22-12 major at 132. The Dolphins also won by forfeit at 106, 120, 126, 160, 182 and 195.
Bozeman (unknown season record) got one contested win, as Asher Burris (220) won by fall. The Bucks also got a forfeit victory at 138.
Both teams’ regular seasons are complete, with Mosley going to the 2A-District 1 IBT at Ft Walton Beach on Wednesday. Bozeman will travel to Wewahitchka for the 1A-District 1 event, staging on Thursday.
