ORLANDO — In the duals finale for both teams and regular-season finale for host Timber Creek, visiting Merritt Island flexed its muscie in a 48-28 win over the Wolfpack Thursday night.
The coastal visitors — not too far removed from an FHSAA 2A state semifinal appearance — swept each weight between 126 and 160 in taking the win.
As for the Wolfpack (3-4 in duals for the season), Jean Vazquez (113), Trenton Dominguez (120) and Peter Nesheiwat (285) all won by fall, with Dennis Proulx (170) taking a 12-4 major. Timber Creek also won by forfeit at 220.
The Wolfpack will be at 3A-District 3 competition, hosted by Hagerty, on Wednesday.
Space Coast 52, Lake Mary 15: At Space Coast, the visiting Rams put first points on the board, taking early leads of 3-0 and 9-6, but a 22-0 run from the Vipers gave the hosts a lead they would not relinquish.
Nick Ghezzi (152) took a first-period fall for Lake Mary (season record unknown), while Alex Chesloff (132) started the dual with a 12-6 decision. The Rams also won by forfeit at 220.
The Rams’ regular season was complete with that dual. Lake Mary will next be at Buchholz on Friday for 3A-District 2 competition.
Missing: Strictly speaking, there’s still a couple of hours for inclusion of the information between Lake Howell and Winter Springs, which also was contested Thursday night — if it’s received by 6 p.m. ET.
