#TheShowIsHere: 1A State, Day 1

KISSIMMEE — Just as in the state duals tournament in January, it’s Jensen Beach and Clay atop the state after the first day of competition in the FHSAA 1A tournament at Silver Spurs Arena.

The Blue Devils stand second after Thursday’s wrestling, with 29 points to the Falcons’ 38.5. Clay has 11 wrestlers left in the tournament, four as quarterfinalists and seven more in the blood round.

Rounding out the top five teams are Palm Bay (25 points), Cardinal Gibbons (24.5) and First Baptist-Naples (24).

Suwannee stands 10th after Thursday’s wrestling, with 15.5 points. The Bulldogs have five in the quarterfinals. Wakulla is tied for 11th, with 15 points and six wrestlers left (two in the quarters, four in consis), while Yulee is T-13th with 12 points and four quarterfinalists.

South Walton is T-16th overall, with 10 points, one quarterfinalists and two in the blood round, while Raines (two quarterfinalists) has 7.5 points in 21st. Bishop Kenny (one quarterfinalist, one in consis) and Fernandina Beach (one quarterfinalist, one in consis) are T-22nd with seven points, while Palatka (two quarterfinalists) is T-25th, with six.

Bolles, Deltona and North Bay Haven, each with one quarterfinalist, are T-30th with four points, while Baker County (two in consis), Bay (one in consis), Episcopal (one in consis) and Rutherford (one in consis) each are T-43rd, with three.

Florida High, Liberty County and West Nassau each competed and did not score on Thursday.
