#TheShowIsHere: 1A State, Day 2

KISSIMMEE — Clay’s Garrett Tyre and Raines’ Jamari Watson will reprise their 1A-Region 1 finals matchup at 220, and their Clay Rotary matchup at the same weight.

The pair of area seniors, joined as a trio by South Walton senior Max Brewster (120), will be in the finals of the FHSAA Class 1A state tournament on Saturday at Silver Spurs Arena.

Tyre (48-2) and Watson (18-2) have both bonus-pointed their way to the final. Tyre has two pins and a major along the way, while Watson has pinned his way through.

Meanwhile, Brewster (54-1, 2 pins & decision) will face Palm Bay senior Shaver Jackson (40-4, 3 decisions) in the 120 final.

Team-wise, Clay leads Region 1 with an eighth-place standing after Friday’s wrestling, scoring 66 points. Jensen Beach holds a 26.5-point lead over First Baptist-Naples, 133.5-107, atop the standings, while Am Heritage-Delray is third (102.5), Somerset fourth (93) and Palm Bay fifth (87.5).

Suwannee (36.5 points) is 12th, Raines (32.5) 13th and South Walton (32) 14th, while Wakulla is T-18th (22 points), Palatka 21st (16), Yulee 22nd (15), Bishop Kenny T-23rd (14), Bolles & Deltona T-25th (13), North Bay Haven T-29th (11), Baker County & Fernandina Beach T-31st (10). Bay, Episcopal and Rutherford are each T-49th (three points).
