#TheShowIsHere: 3A State, Day 2

KISSIMMEE — A total of 18 Region 1 wrestlers will go home with hardware and podium finishes from the FHSAA state tournament Saturday at Silver Spurs Arena.

At the conclusion of Friday’s wrestling, juniors Ethan Vugman (Bartram Trail, 120) and Kamdon Harrison (Hagerty, 160) have reached the finals in their respective weight classes.

Vugman (49-1, 2 pins & decision in tournament) will face Steinbrenner junior Colin Bradshaw (25-1) in the 120-pound final. Bradshaw has two first-period falls and a decision as well.

Harrison (53-8, 2 pins & decision) will face Osceola sophomore Gunner Holland (45-10) in the 160-pound championship. Holland has a tech and pair of decisions this weekend.

Ten additional area wrestlers will place somewhere between third and sixth in their weights, while six more will finish either seventh or eighth.

Teamwise, Hagerty is the top Region 1 team, standing in 10th place with 47 points. Flagler Palm Coast is 12th, with 40 points, while Bartram Trail is 19th with 26, two points ahead of Buchholz in 20th.

Apopka is T-24th, with 18 points, followed by area teams Oakleaf & Timber Creek (T-26th, 16); Winter Park (T-30th, 14); DeLand (T-39th, nine); Mandarin (44th, seven), Forest & Wekiva T-49th (three).

Southwest Miami leads South Dade, 132-118.5, for top team honors. Palmetto Ridge is third with 115, with Osceola (90.5) and Harmony (80) rounding out the top five teams.
