#TheSeason2021-22: New Smyrna Beach

We are once again compiling #TheSeason recaps.

We will sweep through each district, one at a time, until all 100 teams are completed. Our next district in rotation was 2A-District 4 and the final team left to do was its champion, New Smyrna Beach. Records are as compiled from Trackwrestling, as all events were reported there.

Win/loss record: 22-7 in duals as reported.

Season in a nutshell:

• 4th at Clash of the Titans, December 4 (16 teams).
• 3rd at Harmony Longhorn Classic, December 17-18 (15 teams).
• T-54th at Knockout Christmas Classic, December 27-28 (62 teams).
• 2nd at 5 Star Conference, February 5 (8 teams).
• 1st at 2A-District 4 IBT, February 16 (7 teams).
• 3rd at 2A-Region 1 IBT, February 25-26 (33 teams).
• T-21st at 2A State IBT, March 3-5 (80 teams).

GIRLS EVENTS:

• 24th at Lady Clash of Titans, December 3 (28 teams).

Projected boys key returners (15+ matches or post-season experience this past season) for 2022-23 (with year in school as of next season): Richard Crunkilton (sophomore, 17-17 at 106, District 4 runnerup, 0-2 at Region 1); Beau Laye (sophomore, 19-18 at 113, District 4 3rd, 1-2 at Region 1); Jonathon Bruner (sophomore, 36-13 at 120, District 4 champ, 2-2 at Region 1); Simjay Engberg (junior, 23-25 at 132, District 4 3rd, 1-2 at Region 1); Aidan Sutton (junior, 27-11 at 145, District 4 3rd, did not compete at regions); Sawyer VanRider (junior, 32-21 at 182, District 4 champ, Region 1 3rd, 1 match from state medal); Dylon York (senior, 39-11 at 195, District 4 champ, Region 1 runnerup, state 6th).
