GLEN ST MARY — In its home debut Thursday night, Baker County romped to a pair of dual victories to improve to 3-0 in duals for the season.

The Wildcats got a tuneup for Saturday’s appearance at the Optimist Invitational, hosted by Sandalwood, with wins over West Nassau (54-24) and Keystone Heights (60-24). The Indians took down the Warriors, 36-24, in the debut event of the season for both teams.

Baker County got two wins each from Brayden Martin (106), Taz Kinghorn (120, pin), Mackenzie Jordan (132, win by DQ), Keith Ratliff (152/160, 2 pins), Cannon Wimpey (170), and Tommy Rollins (195).

The Wildcats got pins from Gavin Sparkman (138) and Brian Sparkman (220) in the win over West Nassau, and falls from Rasean Rayam (160) and Kelan Hendricks (182) in the victory over Keystone Heights.

Keystone Heights (1-1) got double-win performances from Luke Graves (138, 2 pins), Canyon Hayes (145, 2 pins), Steven Raab (220, 2 pins) and Joshua Dowling (285, pin).

West Nassau (0-2) had two wins each from Landon Higginbotham (113/120, 2 pins), Blayden Tharpe (126/132, 2 pins) and Nolan McKelvy (182, 2 pins). Bryce Mangum won by fall at 160 in the Keystone dual, and Aiden Melson won by pin at 152 over the hosts.

All three teams will reconvene at Sandalwood for the Saints’ Optimist Invitational.

Episcopal sweeps pair: At Episcopal, the Eagles opened the season with a pair of double-digit wins, taking down Fletcher, 48-20, and then shutting out a young and short-handed University Christian squad, 84-0.

Double winners for the Eagles (2-0) were Hunter Luzar (195, pin), Maddox Davidson (220, 2 pins), Reese Pittman (113, decision), Turner Glenn (120, 2 pins), Nicholas Pressley (132, decision), Cohen Chesser (138, 2 pins), Baylor Maurer (145, pin), Chance Wolffe (152, decision), Brennan Doherty (170, pin) and Christian McGarity (182, 2 pins).

Scott Busey (126) and John Fernandez (160) each had pins in the University Christian dual victory.

For Fletcher (0-1), the Senators got falls from Toby Matson (285) and Landon Locantora (106), along with majors from Cole O’Brien (14-1 at 126) and Josh Daltro (15-6 at 160). The Senators did not wrestle the Christians (0-1).

Episcopal and University Christian will reconvene on Saturday at Bishop Snyder and the North Florida Duals, while Fletcher will trek down I-95 to Palm Coast for Matanzas’ Southern Paint Scuffle Duals, also on Saturday.

Lions split home double dual: At Oviedo, the Lions kicked off the boys’ varsity season with a 68-12 win over Colonial, falling by a 37-31 count to Tohopekaliga.

Double winners for Oviedo (1-1) were Gunner Essary (106), Josh Sabbia (113, major), Dougie Dowda (126, 2 pins), Johnathan Dishman (138, pin & major), Lukas Crawley (152/160, 2 decisions), Clayton Mitchell (152/160, pin & decision) and Solomon Dreggors (285, 2 pins).

Additionally in the Colonial dual, Andres Millan (132), Gunner Forsburg (170), Jimmy Chiaradio (182) and John Miceli (195) all won with pins.

In girls competition against Toho, Oakley True (125) and Jana El’harake (145) each won by fall.

Oviedo will be at Deltona on December 9-10, with the girls’ side competing in the Pineda Invitational and the boys following on Saturday with the Deltona Duals.
