TAVARES — Friday nights in most high schools tend to be about a strange orange ball and no wrestling mats wall-to-wall.
For South Lake, Friday night was about kicking off the 2022-23 season, but a short-handed Eagles squad fell to both visiting Lecanto (42-33) and host Tavares (55-12).
Jaydius Bognar (152, pin & tech) and Douglas Hotaling (160, pin & major) both were double winners for South Lake (0-2), while Jaden Rothgeb (120, 16-10 score) took a decision win in the Lecanto dual. Jesse Barker won by decision, 9-6, in the Tavares dual.
The Eagles are now off until December 17, when they’ll compete in Villages’ Amanda St John Memorial Holiday one-day IBT.
Results from the dual can be found HERE.
