#Preview: Capital City Classic

Capital City Classic

When & where: Friday & Saturday at Lincoln
Area teams in the field: In addition to the host Trojans, Arnold; Bishop Kenny; Bolles; Chiles; Columbia; Fletcher, Florida High; Godby; Leon; Liberty County; Marianna; Matanzas; Middleburg; Niceville; Pace; South Walton; Terry Parker; Wakulla; West Nassau.
Area returning champions: Connor Edwards (Lincoln); Jordan Mills (Matanzas).
Synopsis: The big tournament of the weekend in the north, primarily 2A-heavy, but a few 1A teams will be here as well (and one 3A team). Last year’s dominant performance from Somerset Academy won’t be duplicated; this year looks to be a strong fight between host Lincoln and visiting Matanzas; both teams won tournaments last weekend, with Lincoln winning at Cam Brown and Matanzas sweeping to the Southern Paint Scuffle duals title.
Milestones: With two wins this weekend, Bishop Kenny senior Roberto Cuartero will hit 100 career wins. Same goes for Niceville senior Ethan Pinto, as reported in our Border Wars preview; however, Pinto did not compete last weekend, so the watch continues.
