3A-District 3 Duals
When & where: Wednesday at Hagerty. Start times: 2 p.m. (weighin), 3 p.m. (wrestle).
Teams in the field: In addition to the host Huskies (ranked 19th as a team), Evans, Lake Brantley, Lake Howell, Oviedo, Timber Creek, Wekiva & Winter Park may all compete, though there is not a requirement that teams compete.
At stake: Top two teams will advance to the 3A-Region 1 round on January 12 at the District 4 champion’s home gym (District 4 is in progress as this goes to press). District 3 champ will wrestle District 4 runnerup, District 4 champ will wrestle District 3 runnerup in quarterfinal duals. Winners in that round will face off in the semis.
Synopsis: We still have the hosts as the presumptive favorite to advance as district champion, based upon what we’ve seen thus far in December. Could be a really nice fight for second place, though, between Oviedo, Timber Creek and Winter Park; Lake Brantley and Wekiva could, also, contend for top-four positions.
