2A-District 2 Duals
When & where: Thursday at Chiles. Start times: 10 a.m. (weighin), 11 a.m. (wrestle).
Teams in the field: In addition to the host Timberwolves, Arnold, Columbia, Gainesville (presuming a team), Leon, Lincoln (ranked 10th as a team) and Mosley may all compete, though there is not a requirement that teams compete.
At stake: Top two teams will advance to the 2A-Region 1 round on January 12. The district champion will host and wrestle the District 1 runnerup, while the district runnerup will face off against the District 1 champ (District 1 may yet be in progress as this preview drops). Quarterfinal winners will then wrestle a second match.
Synopsis: We saw Lincoln and Chiles as the 1-2 in the district and there has not been anything to change our mind about that; if those teams are on form and healthy, they will be the favorites to advance. Arnold might just be ahead of Mosley and Columbia for the potential third-place position, at least on what we are seeing at this early juncture. We were told Gainesville was close to making a hire when our preview dropped, but the Hurricanes haven’t competed yet this year.
