ORLANDO — While most of the coverage area spent this first midweek space of the calendar in district-duals competition — Evans included — the Trojans also found time to work in a Senior Night dual.
The outcome on the mats didn’t quite go as smoothly as the ceremony surrounding it beforehand, as visiting Metro Conference rival Colonial took down the Trojans, 50-21, in the only regular-season dual on the Matmen calendar this week.
Two Evans seniors — Tyran Schanck (152) and Jean-Paul Cassamajor (160) — did create positive outcomes on their celebration night, as Schanck won by 13-second fall and Cassamajor took a 19-2 tech-fall victory.
Joining them as winners for the Trojans (1-3 in duals) Thursday night were Jermael Paul (fall at 285) and Jaylen Clayton (14-4 major at 126).
In girls competition, the Lady Trojans nearly battled Colonial to a standstill, splitting the victories five apiece in a 30-29 loss to the Lady Grenadiers.
Taking contested wins for the Evans girls (0-1 in duals) were Virchelle Young (100), Laura Zambrano (135), Noel Chonaya (155) and Sunjay Scott-Smith (170), all by pins. Winter Civil (145) added a 16-1 tech-fall victory for the Lady Trojans.
Both boys and girls teams will re-engage in competition next week, traveling to Boone on Wednesday for a midweek dual.
