3A-Region 1 Duals
When & where: Thursday at DeLand, 5 p.m. (weighin), 6 p.m.
Teams in the field: DeLand (10-6), the District 2 champ, will wrestle District 1 runnerup Creekside (18-3), while District 1 champ Bartram Trail (16-7) will wrestle Buchholz (3-2) in the other. The two quarterfinal winners will then wrestle in the semis.
At stake: The team winning twice Wednesday will advance to the first day of the 3A state duals tournament at Osceola and compete against one of four teams from Districts 3 & 4 for the region championship. A time schedule has not been posted by the FHSAA, but 3A competitions have — if past years are any indicator — been the third round (evening) of competition.
Most recent competition: DeLand rolled through the field at its own Bulldog Duals last weekend, going 7-0, while Creekside’s most recent competition was at district duals. That’s the case also for Bartram Trail, while Buchholz was 13th at Jensen Beach’s two-day Cradle Cancer IBT.
