ST JOHNS — On Tocoi Creek’s first Senior Night, the Toros were able to come through with a Tuesday-night dual victory over a county rival.
Tocoi took down Ponte Vedra, 46-20, sending off its five seniors on a good note while improving to 6-3 in duals on the season.
All five seniors started from 160 through 220, with Hayden Groves (160), Dylan Danson (170), Lawton Case (182), Jorge Caez (195) and Jason Callahan (220) honored on the night and kicking off the dual. Callahan won by fall, Case by forfeit and Danson by 10-3 decision to get the Toros off to a lead for their lower weights, who turned up the pressure.
Additionally, the Toros got contested wins from Aidan Hubbell (106, pin), Alessandro Bazan (113, 4-3 win), Mason Cobb (120, pin), Jordan Bogart (126, pin), Willie Sims (132, pin) and Jeremiah Malarkey (145, major).
Ponte Vedra (3-5) got pins from Emmett Hoffman (160), Wyatt Fisher (195) and Shane Goetz, with Bryson Hubbard adding a 13-10 decision at 138.
The Sharks got right back on the mat at St Augustine on Wednesday, while Tocoi Creek is off until the Flagler Rotary at Flagler Palm Coast next weekend.
