Local teams in the field: I have Apopka, Evans, Forest and South Lake as competing in this two-day event.
Defending champion: Unknown.
Synopsis: This is a good tournament to get some mat time in, with as many as eight duals usually on offer during the course of the weekend; it has to be said, however, that it’s one of the more lightly-reported tournaments in north-central Florida as well (Citrus is not in our coverage area; they’re in 2A-Region 2). Not sure if any of the locals will challenge for top honors, but Apopka and Forest have the chance to rack up at least six dual wins as teams. Biggest concern for Matmen is whether we will get results; this tournament has consistently flown under the radar, and not in a great way, although it is a solid duals event and has been for some time, it is just under-reported.
