NEW SMYRNA BEACH — It’s been a different year for Flagler Palm Coast, but the Bulldogs are starting to make some progress at the right time as the regular season heads toward the homestretch.
In a rare Friday night dual, the Bulldogs went on the road against 5 Star Conference rival New Smyrna Beach, doubling up the host Barracudas, 54-27.
FPC (unknown season record due to missing results) got out to a 12-0 start behind pins from Kole Hannant (132) and John Hald (138).
After the ‘Cudas’ Simjay Engberg got the hosts on the board with a 10-6 decision at 145, the Bulldogs put on another run, this one a 30-0 gap behind pins from Carson Baert (152) and Brandon Calidonio (182), plus a pair of forfeits and an injury-default win from Dalton Schell (195).
Dylon York (220) and Donald Bond-West (285) stopped the string with pins of their own for New Smyrna Beach (14-10), but the Bulldogs had more pins in them yet, as Joslyn Johnson (106) and Matthew Shipp (113) both won by fall. New Smyrna Beach closed out the dual with two wins by forfeit.
Both teams are now off until Wednesday, with Flagler Palm Coast visiting Matanzas and New Smyrna Beach at home against DeLand.
