#Recap: Forest 6-2, S. Lake 2-6 At Hermann Cup

By MATMEN, Monday, 5:50 p.m.

INVERNESS — Forest completed the 17th Annual Rob Hermann Cup Duals on Saturday with a 6-2 record, while South Lake was 2-6.

At this time of publication, where the Wildcats (7-6 in duals for the season) and Eagles (2-8) finished overall in the tournament was unknown due to full tournament results being unavailable to Florida wrestling-media outlets.

Forest, even with a few forfeits in the lineup (either three or four depending on the round), had wins over Citrus (45-30), South Lake (42-22), Wesley Chapel (42-36), Rockledge (42-36), Lecanto (45-18) and Leesburg (54-18), taking losses only to Braden River (72-12) and Nature Coast (65-15).

Two Wildcats were 8-0 on the day, as Brent Ryals (126/132, 7 pins and decision) and Ellis Lawson (220, 3 pins & decision) both won eight times. Ryals had his seven pins in the first seven rounds, with his decision victory coming in the final round of the day.

Skyler Hackl (145, 2 pins & 3 decisions) was 6-2, while Aydan Ruano (120/126, 2 pins) was 5-1 in a regular role. Sabastian Arthur (106, pin) and Landon Cunningham (170, 2 pins) were both 5-3 with Cameron Glowach (152, 3 pins) completed a 4-3 tournament record for Forest.

South Lake only had at most seven weights covered, with most of their duals only starting six Eagles. After early pool losses to Leesburg (31-30, criteria), Citrus (42-21), Braden River (72-12), Wesley Chapel (42-18) and Rockledge (60-24) as well as to the Wildcats, the Eagles found success toward the end, with wins over Lecanto (24-18) and Lake Buena Vista (24-12) down the homestretch.

Jaydius Bognar (152, 5 pins & decision) was 8-0 for South Lake, while Aden Pierce (113, 2 pins & major) was 6-2. In a regular role, Jesse Barker (285) was 4-1, while Tegan Beltram (170, 2 pins) was 4-4.

Apopka also competed in the tournament, but results were not available on the Blue Darters’ weekend at the time of this publication. Should they be received in the next couple of days, we will revise.

Forest & Apopka will be at Flagler Rotary starting this Friday, while South Lake will get back on the mats on Tuesday, with a home dual against Space Coast.

Results from the tournament can be found HERE.
