#Preview: Women’s Metro Conference

By MATMEN, Thursday, 4:50 p.m.

Women’s Metro Conference

When & where: Friday at Timber Creek.
Teams in the field: In addition to the host Lady Wolfpack, Apopka, Boone, Colonial, Cypress Creek, Dr Phillips, East River, Edgewater, Freedom, Horizon, Jones, Lake Buena Vista, Lake Nona, Oak Ridge, Ocoee, Olympia, Wekiva, West Orange, Windermere and Winter Park will be attending.
Defending champion: Freedom.
Returning individual champions: Maite Coutinho (Freedom), Shelby Sherman (Apopka), Cameron Galvin (Freedom), Keyla DeLeon (Freedom), Isabel Perez (Freedom); Chloe Shull (Timber Creek); Emily Riveira (Dr Phillips); Jada Jones (Apopka).
Synopsis: More than perhaps any other conference in the state, you’ll see more state champions, more placers and more wrestlers of significant impact in the Women’s Metro. That being said, everyone will be chasing Freedom this weekend, but could be a very good fight between Apopka and Dr Phillips for second, with Timber Creek, East River, Jones and perhaps Cypress Creek all in the mix for a top-4 team spot.
